East Broad Top hopper cars
These first two photos were taken in the 1990's in Durango, Colorado during a shop tour on the Durango and Silverton.

These photos were taken in the 1980's in Orbisonia, Pennsylvania.
The East Broad Top built 10 prototype steel hopper cars with arch bar trucks.
They were successful enough that another 250-odd cars were constructed. The newer cars were built with Vulcan trucks.
The original 10 did have some stability problems and 5 were rebuilt with side dump doors. I believe that these
two photos are of one of these first 10 as rebuilt.

Here is the south end of the Orbisonia yards as viewed from near the coaling shed. The stub turnouts
show up well on the back way to the turntable.
As I recall, the hopper in the photo was off the track on one end.
