D&RGW narrow gauge caboose photos
These photos were taken in the 1990's in Chama, New Mexico. Some of these photos can actually be used as scale drawings. The black and white painted carpenter's square in the photos has the black and white changing on the one foot marks. On the long end of the square, the black and white stripes are both one inch wide. On the short end of the square, the inside white stripe is 1/2" and the outside black strip is one inch.

This shows 0579
in 1992, before restoration was started. This is in Antonito, Colorado.
This shows the restoration
of short caboose 0579 in Antonito, Colorado. The steel plates used for reinforcing the original wood sills shows
up well in the photo. This detail photo was taken in September, 1999.
This shows long
caboose 0503. This was taken in 1992. It was right after a minor switching accident. The sills were repaired by
using steel reinforcing similar to 0579 in the above photo. Since the approach worked so well on 0503 in regular
service, it was reused on 0579.

Here are two photos of caboose 0575 taken
in Ouray, Colorado in 1984.

This caboose is
on display in Silverton, Colorado. It is one of the Mear's railroad's (Silverton RR, Silverton Gladstone and Northerly,
Silverton Northern) cabooses it is next to the visitor's center. This pic was taken in September, 1999.
Caboose 0500 is attached to the rear of a train
including the Eureka & Palisade #4. The train is being backed into the Durango Depot. This pic was taken in
September, 1999.
