Antonito Yard
These photos were taken in September, 1999 in Antonito, Colorado. Some of these photos can actually be used as scale drawings. The black and white painted carpenter's square in the photos has the black and white changing on the one foot marks. On the long end of the square, the black and white stripes are both one inch wide. On the short end of the square, the inside white stripe is 1/2" and the outside black strip is one inch.

The
flat car (010793) in the fore ground is a dual gauge
idler car that allows standard gauge and narrow gauge equipment
to operate in the same train. The two box cars are standard gauge and from the 1910-20 era. This is close to the
same era as the narrow gauge freight equipment (mostly from 1905 era).
This
shows the Friends of the C&TS work area. The building on the left is Fort Knox . The caboose is 0579. It had
been used as a real estate agent's office and a few other things. It is now being restored to operation. The building
with the flags to the left of 0579 is a gift shop.
Also on the repair track is a flat car 6708 and a box car that was converted into a coach.
To the right of the coach is the town of Antonito.
I
found the following comments on the caboose and the flat car.

This
is the view southwesterly from the Narrow Gauge RR Inn. It shows the arid beauty of the eastern end of the C&TS.
This picture
was taken in 1992. It shows #15 and a K-37 being repainted. The second steamer is probably also a K-37.
