463 K-27 photos

These photos were taken in the early 1990's in Chama, New Mexico. Some of these photos can actually be used as scale drawings. The black and white painted carpenter's square in the photos has the black and white changing on the one foot marks. On the long end of the square, the black and white stripes are both one inch wide. On the short end of the square, the inside white stripe is 1/2" and the outside black strip is one inch.

This photo was taken in Antonito, Colorado in September 1999. 463 is over the Antonito ash pit waiting for tomorrow's run.

Behind 463 is the Antonito Depot and behind the tender is a coach and caboose waiting for tomorrow's trip.

The frame in the fore ground is from a standard gauge box car. It is waiting to be converted into a narrow gauge coach.

Here is 463 during restoration in 1992 having been pulled out of the Chama enginehouse.

This is the back side of the left cylinder. This was taken in the Chama shop before she was returned to operating condition. The inside of the piston valve section is clearly seen with the intake and outflow ports.

This shows the boiler tube pilot quite clearly.

Here is the inside of the smoke box showing the front flue sheet of the boiler. The large pipes are the steam feed pipes to the piston valves from the throttle.

This is the front of the left cylinder.
