Another prototype photo of a gallows turntable. Location and date is unknown. locomotive is number 209.

The stained and completed turntable is the photo is the original Mil-Scale I built about 1970.

The frame of the new Walt and Howard's 65' narrow gauge turntable is in the gluing jig beneath.

Another top view of the Mil Scale and the Walt & Howard's kit being assembled. Note the extra timber on the sides that was not part of the Mil-Scale.

Another shot of the 6x6 end sill on the F2 panel. The 3/8" bolts used to attach the 6x6 to the 2x4 can be seen.

3/4 view of Walt and Howard's 65' narrow gauge turntable with HOn3 rails on it.

O narrow gauge gallows turntable 65' length preproduction model

These photos are of the engineering prototype for the O scale version of the "H" style gallows turntable. The turntable is a bare bones turntable that can be used as a starting point for a much more detailed model if desired. My goal was to get a kit that most modelers could afford.

A detail kit (such as NBW castings) might be added later depending on the desires of the modeler.

I am considering altering this O scale model to be more like the D&RG photos where some wood members are actually tension rods. I am looking into material for the tension rods - thread as used on the HO model might not be appropriate.
